About North Zion Preschool

North Zion Preschool is a ministry of North Zion Lutheran Church serving children ages 2 to 5 in Pittsburgh's South Hills. We provide a nurturing Christian preschool where children grow academically, socially, emotionally, spiritually, and physically in a safe, loving environment. Families from many local churches, as well as families without a church home, choose North Zion Preschool because of our reputation for providing high-quality early childhood education rooted in Christian values.

Throughout the school year, children learn about God's love through age-appropriate Bible stories, prayer, songs, and daily experiences that teach them they are wonderfully created by God and deeply loved by Him. We welcome families from diverse backgrounds and strive to create a warm, inclusive community where every child feels valued, encouraged, and supported.

Our Philosophy

At North Zion Preschool, we believe that children learn best through play-based learning and meaningful hands-on experiences. Our curriculum is thoughtfully designed to support each child's developmental stage while encouraging curiosity, creativity, independence, and a lifelong love of learning.

Through engaging activities in literacy, math, science, art, music, sensory exploration, and dramatic play, children develop the academic and social skills needed for future success. Our experienced teachers provide a nurturing Christian environment where children are encouraged to explore, ask questions, build friendships, and grow in confidence while learning at their own pace.

At North Zion Preschool, our goal is to provide every child with a joyful, engaging, and developmentally appropriate preschool experience that prepares them for kindergarten and lifelong learning. We strive to:
